Flamskydd / Flamspärrar Ett flamskydd är en anordning som stoppar eventuell brand i en tank genom att släcka lågan. Flamskyddet låter gas och ånga passera igenom, men släcker lågan för att förhindra en större brand eller explosion. Det finns en stor mängd olika situationer där flamskydd kan tillämpas för att minska riskerna och förbättra säkerhetsaspekterna. Till exempel kan flamskydd användas i bränsletankventiler och rörledningar.

Dessa produkter delas vanligtvis upp i detonations- och deflagreringsflamskydd. Skillnaden i konstruktionen av dessa två typer av flamskydd har att göra med hastigheten på flamman som kan utvecklas inuti röret. En flamma som rör sig snabbare än ljudets hastighet sägs vara en detonation medan allt som rör sig långsammare kallas en deflagration.

Its primary function is to allow the flow of gases or vapor of flammable liquids through the enclosure, but prevent the transmission of a flame.
